Designer’s Notes.

As one of London’s iconic architectural structures, the penthouse at the Barbican was one of the most unique properties we have undertaken to date. When starting to create the interior we had to consider both the brutal – exposed original pebbled concrete walls – alongside the beautiful – ultra luxurious finishes such as the brass stair balustrades and Italian terrazzo marble kitchen and bathrooms.

In the open-plan living area we have included carefully-considered pieces to maximise the flow including a custom-made corner sofa and wenge and brass dining table to complement the customised feature joinery. We have added metallic skulls in the accessorising and the bespoke oversized bronze canvases to pay homage to the boldness and creativeness of The Barbican area.

Bedrooms were designed to be very modern and edgy with a variety of furniture finishes and unique pieces. In the master bedroom we designed an entire upholstered panelled wall with chevron detail to act as a backdrop to the understated beauty of the bed, faceted bedside chests and stunning black sculptural pendants that were suspended above each side.

The overall finish was both brutal and beautiful.
